Austrian Airlines has officially confirmed additional flights between Vienna and Burgas in May 2027 for the Eurovision Song Contest. Austria’s national carrier will launch its seasonal Burgas service earlier than usual, providing a direct connection between Vienna, the host city of Eurovision 2026, and Burgas, which will welcome the contest in 2027.
Nine additional flight dates in May 2027
Flights are scheduled for May 8, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 21 and 22, 2027. Services will depart Vienna at 3:50 pm local time and arrive in Burgas at 6:40 pm. Return flights will leave Burgas at 7:20 pm and arrive in Vienna at 8:10 pm.
The route will be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft. Austrian Airlines has been flying to Burgas since summer 2025, but its seasonal services have previously started around mid-June. In 2027, the service will begin much earlier, on May 8, ahead of Eurovision.
Burgas gains access to Austrian Airlines’ international network
Vienna is one of Central Europe’s major aviation hubs, meaning the new schedule will be important not only for passengers travelling from Austria. Through connections in Vienna, international visitors will be able to reach Burgas from numerous European destinations, as well as cities across the United States and Asia.
The confirmation from Austrian Airlines comes as Burgas Airport continues discussions with carriers about additional flights and new routes for the Eurovision period. Bulgaria’s national carrier, Bulgaria Air, has also announced plans to increase connections between Sofia and Burgas.
Burgas prepares for Eurovision 2027
Burgas will host the 71st Eurovision Song Contest following DARA’s victory in Vienna with the song “Bangaranga”. The two semi-finals are scheduled for May 11 and 13, while the Grand Final will take place on May 15, 2027.
The earlier launch of the Vienna–Burgas route is another important step towards improving the city’s international connectivity ahead of one of Europe’s biggest music events. Further additional flights and new routes to Burgas are expected to be announced in the coming months.
